Buy the e-book if you want to read this
By P. Romance
I love this type of storyline: where two people fall in love by writing letters to each other before meeting. It starts off with Phoebe Honeycutt, or as everyone calls her Aunt Bee, writing a letter to a soldier, John Caldwell, to tell him that his grandmother has passed away. This starts a year long exchange of letters and care packages. Then, one day, John's tour of duty was over and made the decision to go back to his hometown and meet this "old woman" to thank her. But when he meets her, he realizes his Aunt Bee wasn't what he imagined. Both of them have been brokenhearted once before and shy of making a commitment. With some help from the citizens, they might have a "happily ever after" after all.
There were 2 reasons I've bought and read this book. First, the storyline. And the second, from what I read so far, the author. Please do not waste $12.00 for the book. I beg you. Buy the e-book. The writing was good but the story wasn't gripping and kind of predictable. It wasn't all bad. The beginning started off great. The letters were cute and charming. The characters were caring, funny people. But when they actually meet, they suddenly lack their original personalities. It bothered me that all they thought about was how attracted they were and trying so hard to fight it for the sake of their friendship. Plus, John was so hopeless that he needed his ex-girlfriend to tell him off before he realized what his problem was. Luckily, there was a nice interesting twist in the end which completely surprised me.
Yes, it was good one-time read, but I wouldn't spend that much money on this.

Really liked this.

Phoebe, aka Bee, is a young woman who has decided that things like a husband and children are not things she'll ever have. She wants them, but doesn't think they are obtainable for her. So she spends most of her time in her small town helping out her neighbors, caring for a friend's grandson, and visiting with her elderly aunt and the residents of a local nursing home. When an elderly friend dies, Bee is tasked to write a letter to the woman's adult grandson, John, who is a soldier currently serving in a war zone and also the only family the woman had left. John assumes Bee is elderly, since she was a friend of the grandmother who raised him. He writes to thank her for contacting him, and thus begins nearly a year of being pen-pals. While Bee starts to grow feelings for John, John assumes that Bee is old enough to be his grandmother and he tells her about personal issues and past heartaches.
(Here's where the story lost a star for me. The author skims over about 10 months of letter-writing, so the characters are learing things about each other that the reader never learns. Later in the story, we are TOLD about how they learned this fact, or assumed that detail, based on the letters they had shared. But we never got to experience that. I felt like the author was telling me, not showing me, and I found that a bit confusing and annoying.)
John comes home from war and is on leave. He decides to pick up his grandmother's personal effects and also stop to thank sweet old "Aunt Bee" in person. He's shocked and embarrassed (because of all the personal things he told her) when he finds out that she is a smokin' hot woman a couple of years younger than him.
I don't want to give any more details, or ruin the plot for anyone. There's a couple of things that happen in the book that are predictable from the onset, but they didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story. The editting is pretty good. I found myself really rooting for the two main characters to work things out. And as is typical fashion for chick-lit and romance novels, there's a happy ending for everyone.

Great story. I feel like she rushed the ending ...
By Tara Peters
Great story. I feel like she rushed the ending and wish she would have written a follow up book. I wish she would have updated the readers about his buddy from the army who got injured and her friend (Tommy's friends' mom). Overall, a great book.
